Decarbonising industries with an expert team in emissions abatement
Our Mission
Lock away 1 billion tonnes of CO2 by 2040 : we've been developing our technology since 2012, and our north star remains the same.
Our Vision
Profitably decarbonise global industries by turning CO2 emissions into valuable products : this is the goal of carbon capture and utilisation.
Our Offices
Newcastle, Australia is where we are headquartered - at the largest coal exporting port in the world. We have locations in Canberra, Sydney and the US.

Over a decade of research and development
"What can we do with CO2 instead of burying it?"
In 2006, our founders posed a bold question in response to the release of the first IPCC Report, which linked CO2 with climate change.
Reimagine carbon as a resource
Our foundaton team had a goal to shift the paradigm - instead of viewing CO2 emissions as a harmful waste, empower industries globally to recognise its potential as a valuable resource.
Permanently locking CO2 into mineral rock, or industrial waste, shows the scalability and applicability across sectors and economies.
Since 2013, we've been funded by state and federal government grants, industry and private capital. Initial funding was secured via a three-way consortia between NSW Government, Australian Government and Orica, with the Pilot Plant program conducted at the Newcastle Institute of Energy and Resources.
Scaling a clean technology platform
In 2021, MCi Carbon recieved a A$14.6m grant from the Australian Government CCUS Development Fund to scale our technology. The MCi Carbon Plant will be located at Orica's Kooragang Island manufacturing plant in Newcastle, Australia.
